Earlier this year, a clinical trial to evaluate treatment with another research vemurafenib candidates, an oral agent targeting MEK kinase inhibitor, GDC-0973, was initiated in patients with metastatic melanoma with BRAF mutation. The addition of GDC-0973 in the treatment vemurafenib in this study will assess whether the inhibition of two main parts of the route of tumor cell BRAF / MEK signaling may improve outcomes for patients, including also possible to extend the duration of response.
