Why should I make a donation to “Sent From Ebove”?

Simply, the more Sent From Ebove donors who join our community, the more people in need we can help. Through word of mouth recommendations and increased activity on SentFromEbove.com, we hope to consistently grow our list of caring donors.Any donation, no matter how small, is very much appreciated. Thank you for considering a donation!

Can I remain annonymous when I post a wish or give a gift?

We have tried to create a private community where people can feel safe asking and receiving the help they need. Part of that privacy goal means maintaining initial anonymity on behalf of both the donor and the recipient. However, either party may request more personal information be shared in order to feel comfortable with the transaction.  

How do I know these posts are legitimate?

The majority of Sent From Ebove users are sincerely in need of help, and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible when giving a gift.Verify identity and confirm physical address and phone number. Go beyond the post, and don’t be afraid to ask questions or request additional information regarding their wish. Giving through your local community will cut down on most fraud.  Also, we discourage sending money to anyone, unless their legitimacy has been verified. If you feel the least bit uncomfortable about a recipient and/or post, we advise you not to give. 

What is the free advertising?

When you help others, we want to help you.  We offer free advertising for your product or services on our “Featured Givers,” page. After “giving a gift,” make sure you sign up for the free advertising, which will be posted the very same day. We hope your generosity will be returned to you many times over.

Is my donation tax deductible?

In the United States, donations are only tax-deductible when made to a non-profit organization.  Because most requests for help come from individuals who are not affiliated with a non-profit organization, those donations would not be tax deductible. But if the "Recipient" is affiliated with a non-profit organization, it is the responsibility of the "Donor" to ask for a receipt or Tax ID number, when giving a gift. If you are not sure, please ask first, before giving the gift.

Is the gift taxable?

Gifts up to the amount of $12,000 in a calendar year are not taxed. We recommend you seek the advice of a trusted tax advisory or attorney prior to making or receiving a large donation.

How many wishes can I post?

As a hopeful Sent From Ebove recipient, you may post 1 wish at one time.  When a wish is completely granted or 60 days pass, it will automatically get deleted, and you may post another wish.

Can I add audio or video to my post?

Yes for a small fee. We do advise to take safety precautions when posting pictures or video of your home, work, family, children, etc. Use the same privacy precautions online as you would offline.

How does the transaction take place?

Much like with eBay, the transaction is the responsibility of the giver. There may be a physical transfer, or a gift may be shipped. 

Can people from anywhere participate?

We believe that the more locally-focused the matching efforts are, the more successful they will be. We’re initially launching Sent From Ebove in Los Angeles. We plan to expand Sent From Ebove to other communities in the future.
