Tips on Giving And Receiving

Community Image

Sent From Ebove wants everyone who participates in this community to have a safe and rewarding experience. While we can not guarantee the legitimacy of all information provided, here are some simple precautions to help your matches go smoothly. (Sent From Ebove is not involved in any transaction and does not handle giving gifts, guarantee transaction or provide "recipient" or "donor" verification.)

For Donors

  1. We encourage donors to go beyond the screen name to verify identity and confirm physical address and phone number. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or request additional information regarding their wish. Don’t take everything at face value. An honest person will be upfront and helpful in every way. Stay away from the person who doesn’t respond or is vague.

  2. If someone is asking for money, consider helping them in other ways. For instance, gift cards, used clothing and furniture, free services, job referrals, free advice on getting the help they need. A few comforting words can make a huge impact on someone who is going through a rough time. We discourage sending money to any recipient unless their legitimacy has been verified.

  3. Deal locally with people you can meet in person. Meet in a public place during daylight hours, and never go alone. Carry a cell phone if you have one.

  4. It is easy to get caught up in an emotional response when hearing a plea for help. Before making a commitment to give, think about it and wait a day or two before deciding to give.

  5. Never give out your personal financial information (bank account number, social security number, PayPal info, etc.).

  6. If you feel that there is a false post on the website, please let us know so we can look into it, and be prepared to provide whatever help we can to police and other investigators.

  7. Finally, trust your instincts. If things seem odd and don’t add up, walk away.

For Recipients

  1. When someone has offered to help you or grant your wish, take the same safety precautions online as you would offline. Don’t give out financial information and be very cautious giving out personal information.

  2. If you feel that there is a false post on the website, please let us know so we can look into it, and be prepared to provide whatever help we can to police and other investigators.

  3. Finally, trust your instincts. If things seem odd and don’t add up, walk away.
