My family is in desperate need of a refrigerator. Ours is at least 15 years old and with the temperatures in the 100's it just gave up. there is no way that we can buy one. We have had to throw what little food we did have away as it spoiled. Our son and our grandson moved in with us as times are too tough, my grandson's milk got thrown out so really really need something. I am not the type of person to seek help as I always am the one that gives out help to everyone, but this time I really do need help. If anyone has any clothes to give away, I wear size 18 pants, 2xl shirts. I apply for jobs everyday and hoping that someone calls me for an interview so I need something decent to wear. Thank you for all your help.

My Story I live in Kansas. Am unemployed due to the economy. I have the best family in the world. My dream is to live without struggling as it gets worse instead of better each day. My family and friends are so important to me and I thank the good lord every day for them. Maybe one day I will wake up and not have to worry about how and what we are going to eat that day. God Bless!:)

Courage. Strength. Resilience. These are three words that come to mind when hearing Rhonda Morrison’s story. Rhonda is a recently divorced mother of three boys ages 16, 13 and 5. Like many others, her journey to Harbor Interfaith Services was not an easy one. But now that she has successfully graduated from our Accelerated Learning and Living program, she and her family need a few items to complete their newly established home. Bunk beds for her sons, a computer desk with a chair, curtains in the living rooms and bedrooms for privacy (contact for measurements), silverware and lastly a television.

My Story Prior to entering Harbor Interfaith Services, Rhonda was a newlywed working to establish a future with her husband as a certified counselor. It wasn’t long before things went south. Her new husband became physically abusive towards her, eventually relapsing into a habit of drugs. After months of abuse Rhonda packed everything in a van and left with her sons. With little money earned with her waitress job, the family had to take residence at a small room in an Inn where the presences of drugs were evident. Despite having to raise her sons in a place where she had to escort them to and from the community showers, Rhonda was able to stay enrolled at Harbor College and maintain a 3.7 Grade Point Average. It was from here that Rhonda sought help at our shelter and eventually became a resident in our transitional housing program. Now she has a home of her own, has graduated from Harbor College with an A.A. and cites her biggest accomplishment as breaking completely free from her husband. Her future plans are to open a long term care/treatment program for women and children with backgrounds dealing with abuse and drug usage.

I am a 30 year old mother of two precious daughters. We have been w/o a vehicle for some time now. When the motor blew in my jeep I had to take a leave of absence from school and have had a difficult time getting/keeping a job. I paid for a warranty when I bought my jeep but they gave me the run around. I have no money to put down for a vehicle. I would appreciate any help I could get. I really want to go back to school more than anything. I also have great work history and references. My only set back is having no transportation. My daughters and I dont have family to help us. If you can help in any way or have any information that would be helpful, I would be very thankful! XoXoXo

My Story I have been very blessed in my life! I have two beautiful, healthy girls ages 2 & 9. Being a mother is the most important thing to me. I recently got out of an abusive relationship in which my girls and I stayed in hotels for 3 months. We lost alot of our belongings...But we are doing better now than ever before. I believe everything happens for a reason. I also have alot of faith in GOD. We are stronger and happier now. I have always wanted to help others and now when Im able I will know how too. Since I have personally expierenced domestic violence & homelessness, I hope to help others. Right now Im learning to take care of me. This has been my biggest obsticale yet. A car could really help our family. Thank you for reading our story. XoXoXoXoXOXO

The area we live in is not the best and being by myself with two young children,I would like some added protection. I would really like a better lock on my apartment door and some pepper spray. Also there is no fire extinguisher.

My Story Hi-like so many others, I am a single mother of two wonderful boys, we were homeless and are now safe and sound in transitional housing. I do not have a car or a job yet but am working hard at making those two things happen. Also I just want to say thank you to all those who help others in need-your doing a tremendous thing!
