I am on the verge of losing the last thing that our family has: our home. It's not the greatest of homes; it is in dire need of repair, but we love our home and I'm willing to do just about anything to try and save it. We have lived here for the past 12 years and unless I can find a way to generate $50,000, we could very well be on the streets. It seems like such a large amount. It's more than what most people make in a year --- but I think it's all about how you look at things. $50,000 is a lot and way too much to ask of anyone ... but $5 is not that much ... do you think that there are 10,000 people in Southern California that would be willing to donate $5 to help save a family from losing their home?

My Story I have always tried to leave my corner of the world better than how I found it. I do volunteer work, participate in my children's education, and try to help others if I can. Believe me, I have flaws too, I am definitely not implying that I am better or more deserving than anyone else. In my community service, I have never been able to do anything "news-worthy", but I hope that the things I do are appreciated by the 1-2 people that I try to affect at a time. I have owned and operated a home-based business for the past eight years, for the first six years, we had moderate success, but with the downturn in the economy, our business has definitely suffered. I have struggled to keep our family afloat for the past two years and now the ship is definitely sinking, even the rats have abandoned ship.
